Abstract
In the case of Be stars the usual techniques of the Strömgren uvby
calibration are not suitable. Their observed photometric indices include,
besides the contribution of photospheric emission and interstellar
extinction, an additional emission from the circumstellar envelope
(Fabregat and Torrejon, 1998). This chapter addresses whether there
should be an excess at the wavelengths covered by the Strömgren filters,
asks if it is possible to separate the circumstellar emission from the
observed flux and discusses the derived results in the context of whether
they can be used to identify the fundamental stellar properties that the
Strömgren filters were designed to do. |
